---

One licence is the right to run one live site. The full terms are in the [template licence](/legal/template-license/); this page is the shape of them.

## What one licence lets you do

Buying the source means changing the source.

- **Run one live site** with it.
- **Change anything** - the words, the images, the colours, the layout, the code.
- **Hire anyone** to change it for you.
- **Keep it forever.** The licence does not expire and there is nothing to renew.

## What it does not let you do

Two limits, and they are the only two that matter.

- **You cannot resell it**, as a template, a theme or a starter.
- **One licence is one live site.** Two sites need two licences.

## It is non-exclusive, on purpose

This is the trade you make for the price.

- **Another business can buy the same template**, including one in your trade in your town.
- **We do not police who buys what**, and we will not tell you who else did.
- **If you want a design nobody else can buy**, that is a [custom build](/docs/custom-builds/how-a-custom-build-runs/).

## Buying more than one licence

Licence count is a number you choose at checkout.

- **A licence is the right to run one site**, so several sites is one purchase with a count on it.
- **The count is set on the template's own page**, before you reach the checkout.
- **They do not have to be used at once.** An unused licence does not expire.

## What travels with the files

The download carries its own paperwork.

- **Licence records for the images and fonts** are included, so you can see what each asset is cleared for.
- **Those records are a reference, not a sublicence.** A stock asset stays under its own supplier's terms.
