Your site stops being a template you decorate. It becomes yours.

Squarespace facts on this page were checked on 22 July 2026 against Squarespace’s published pricing page and support documentation. Numbers move. We re-check.

Squarespace gave you a box and called it design freedom. You picked a template, fought its section limits, and hit a ceiling nobody mentions until you’re inside it. It’s a rental with a monthly bill.

Replacement means the ceiling ends. A site built for your business, not stretched over somebody else’s grid. You keep the domain, the content, the code, and the data. If you ever walk, you walk with all of it.

## What replacement actually means

- No more decorating a box. Squarespace customisation lives inside its editor, and the tools that actually break out of the template, the CSS editor and code injection, only arrive on Core plans and above. Replacement means the design starts from your business, not from a template you negotiate with.
- No more percentage of your sales. On the Basic plan, Squarespace takes a 2% transaction fee on physical products and 7% on digital content, and the digital fee only fades as you climb tiers: 5% on Core, 1% on Plus, 0% on Advanced. Your noboringsites plan is the whole bill. We take no cut of your sales. See current plans at /pricing.
- No more partial exit. Squarespace’s own export produces a WordPress-format.xml file, and its support docs list what stays behind: style settings, custom CSS, store pages, product blocks, and most page types beyond standard layouts and one blog. The same docs say the export can’t be imported into another Squarespace site. And when you cancel, service continues only through the period you’ve already paid for. Replacement means the domain, source, content, and lead data are yours from day one, and a full offboarding pack is free if you ever want to host elsewhere.
- No more anonymous plumbing. We run the hosting, the SSL, and the backups, and we watch for problems instead of leaving that to you. Fair is fair: managed hosting is Squarespace’s real strength too. The difference is who owns what gets watched.

## Squarespace vs noboringsites

## How switching works

We build the replacement first, so you see it before anything moves. Migration is part of your plan: we carry your content and domain across and point DNS when you’re ready, not before. Nothing goes down mid-switch. Version history and one-click revert come with every site, so each change after launch is staged, checked, and reversible.

## FAQ

It works fine for a simple site. The friction shows up later: template limits you can’t design around, fees on what you sell, and an export that leaves your design behind if you ever want out.

Partially. Squarespace’s export moves standard pages and one blog into a WordPress-format file. Style settings, custom CSS, store pages, and most other page types don’t transfer, and the file can’t be re-imported into another Squarespace site. We rebuild what the export drops as part of migration.

Squarespace’s pricing FAQ says service continues through the period you’ve already paid for. After that, what you keep is the partial export. The site itself doesn’t leave with you.

Yes. The domain, the source, the content, and your lead data are yours from day one. Leave whenever you like and the offboarding pack is free: the whole site, not a partial export.

Migration is included with your plan. We build first, you approve, then we move the domain. Your current site stays live until the new one is ready.

We handle hosting, SSL, backups, and ongoing watching. You never touch a server. The difference from a builder subscription is that you own what’s being looked after.

No. Nothing here starts from a theme gallery. The design starts from your business and is built to fit it, which is the point of replacing a box you decorate.
