Larkmede has been a working flower studio since 2016. Here is who makes your flowers, and how.

Lead florist

Nell Ashcombe

Nell trained on a flower farm before opening the studio, and still thinks like a grower. She would rather send a bunch of whatever is singing that week than force a flower out of season, and it shows in the work.

You will mostly deal with Nell directly, from the first email to the flowers at your door, which is how she likes it.

The craft

How we work

Everything is conditioned properly, arranged loose in the garden style, and made the day it goes out. No floral foam, no dyed stems, no flowers flown halfway around the world when the field down the road has better.

Where the flowers come from

Through the warm months we cut from local growers and a small patch of our own. When the garden rests we lean on a few trusted markets, and we are honest with you about which is which.

What we hold to

Season over stock

We buy what is good this week, not what a catalogue says we should. It is fresher, it lasts longer, and it looks like it grew somewhere.

Grown close

Local first, always, so the flowers travel hours rather than days and the growers down the road stay in business.

We take on less than we could, so your flowers get made by the person you spoke to, on the day they should be.
