Foundry Lane since 1974

Three generations on the tools

Bellweir is not a franchise and never will be. It is one workshop, six vans, and a family that has run pipe in this city for fifty-two years, with the certificate wall to show for it.

A Bellweir plumber checks a copper fitting at the workshop bench, the pipe rack behind him.

The line so far

  1. 1974

Ray Bellweir, eighteen years old, buys a second-hand van and a set of dies. First docket: a burst galvanised riser on Millfield Road, four dollars fifty.

  2. 1998

Dean finishes his apprenticeship under Ray, adds the gas ticket, and writes the four guarantees on the workshop wall, where they still hang.

  3. 2022

Sophie signs on as the third generation, tops her trade-school year, and now runs the camera unit and half the hot-water book.

The Bellweirs

The people who knock on your door, by name. Photos ride on every booking confirmation, so you always know who is coming.

Ray, Dean and Sophie Bellweir outside the workshop at dusk, copper pipe in hand, the van behind them.

Ray Bellweir

Founder, mostly retired, still grades every apprentice weld

Dean Bellweir

Master plumber & gasfitter, runs the workshop and answers the hard calls

Sophie Bellweir

Third generation, camera unit lead and hot-water specialist

Every Bellweir plumber is licensed, police-checked and turns up in a marked van, never an unmarked ute.

The vans are the workshop

Six slate-blue vans, each carrying the same racked stock of copper, valves and common hot-water parts. That is why most jobs finish in one visit: the part is already at the kerb.

The paperwork is the product

Two documents close every Bellweir job: an itemised docket that lists labour and every fitting, and on gas work, a certificate of compliance filed with the regulator and copied to you.

Dean found the leak two other companies missed, showed me the camera footage, and the price never moved a dollar.
