THE VISIT

Everything before you knock

EVENINGS BY ARRANGEMENT

Private hire for birthdays and small dates of state. Two hours, counter service included.

Two hours, your people only, counter service included. Ask about cake from the kitchen.

Prices are per person and include the lounge, the drink and as much cat as the cats decide. Gift vouchers cover any session and never expire.

02 — CATIQUETTE

House rules, written by the residents

Eight rules keep sixty-one adoptions worth of trust intact. Break one and Ume files a complaint.

Wash your hands on the way in. The basin is right there and the cats judge.

Let cats come to you. A still hand at cushion height is the best invitation.

No picking cats up. Laps are offered by the cat, and it shows when they are.

Sleeping cats stay asleep. There are always others on patrol.

Photos yes, flash never. Golden Hour light is better than your flash anyway.

Inside voices. The room runs at kissaten volume, cups and murmurs.

Only counter food and drinks in the lounge, and nothing shared with the cats.

Shoes off at the vestibule. Socks with holes are forgiven, mostly.

03 — TWO ROOMS, TWO DOORS

Coffee on one side, cats on the other

Health rules made us build two rooms; we made the wall between them glass. The counter is walk-in whenever we are open. The lounge sits behind a double paper vestibule so nobody slips out on a draught, and no whisker crosses the food line.

05 — THE HONEST ANSWERS

Kids, groups and itchy noses

Kids and families

Under-10s join Sunday's Family Hour only, one adult per child. Not because kids are trouble; because cats vote with their feet and we like the cats to stay.

Allergies

The counter room is cat-free air behind glass, so mildly allergic friends can still come along. An antihistamine an hour before a lounge visit is the regulars' trick.

Groups and parties

Six or more means the room changes shape, so book The Whole Room. Birthdays, tiny hens' dos and one wedding proposal so far. She said yes; the cats took credit.

06 — ASKED EVERY DAY

The short answers

Can we just walk in?
The counter, always. The lounge, sometimes; weekday mornings often have a spare cushion, weekends almost never. Booking is the sure thing.
What if the cats ignore us?
They will, at first; it is their room and you are news. Sit low, sip your drink, and by minute twenty someone furry usually files an inspection.
Do you take gift vouchers?
We sell them and we love them. Any session, any amount, never expire, and the card has a cat drawn on it.
Can I bring my own cat?
No, and your cat agrees. The residents run a closed shop; visiting cats stress everyone including the visitor.
What happens if I cancel?
Move or cancel free up to 24 hours out. Inside that, we offer your seat to the waitlist and credit you if it fills.
Is the lounge accessible?
Step-free from the street through both rooms, and we keep two chairs in the lounge for anyone who prefers not to sit low. Tell us when you book and the good corner is yours.

Ready when you are

You know the ritual now. All that is left is choosing the hour and washing your hands like you mean it.
